The SEEWEN Food Growing Project

Welcome to the website for the SEEWEN Food Growing Project run by SEEWEN - the South East Essex branch of WEN.

WEN is a national network – the Women's Environmental Network - which is the only organisation in the UK working consistently for women and the environment. For more information visit the WEN website.

SEEWEN is a local group that undertakes various projects from an annual Earth Day to campaigning against excess packaging. The Food Growing Project was conceived as a practical way to involve more people in growing their own food and all the positive effects that come with that.

This site is about the Food Growing Project - for more general information about SEEWEN visit http://www.seewen.org.uk

The 'Project' started in Autumn 2008 and quickly focused on the idea of getting an allotment. We also knew that we wanted to get as many people involved as possible - especially people who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to grow their own food.

As they say "Rome wasn't built in a day" but we are on our way and the purpose of this site is to let others know what we are doing, whether it is working and to share the joys and setbacks over the seasons.

To that end the site provides:

It's early days so the site is small now but, like the allotment, it's growing.
